Nicole Black is a visual artist based in Adelaide, South Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Painting and Drawing, 2011) from the University of South Australia and an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design (2014).

Working full-time in her creative vocations, Nicole oscillates her practice between fine art, murals, and commercial projects. Her work is centred around a deep connection to the natural environment; drawing from both the vastness of landscapes and the intricacies of flora. Working across mixed media, she captures emotional impressions of place, balancing detail and abstraction to express what often lies beyond the visible.

Photography and journaling are integral to Nicole’s process, serving as tools for documenting colour, form, light, and memory. Her work reflects a long-standing fascination with the cyclical rhythms of the natural world, capturing the light and mood of the environments she moves through. Her intention with her paintings, drawings, and large-scale murals is to invite viewers into a world where personal experience and nature converge.

In addition to exhibiting in solo, group, and curated shows, Nicole regularly leads workshops and teaches, sharing her love of creative exploration and process with others.
