Full Day Abstract Landscape Workshop
Join me for a full-day acrylic painting workshop in Adelaide, held at Sim + Co on Saturday 10th January. This immersive class is designed to help beginners and emerging artists learn how to create a contemporary abstract landscape from start to finish. Working from reference photos of local scenery, you’ll explore sketching, composition, colour palette development, and layering techniques using artist-grade acrylics and mediums. Throughout the day, Nicole will share her creative process through demonstrations and one-on-one guidance, helping you build confidence and develop your own painting style. All materials, resources, and light refreshments are provided, making this workshop a relaxed and inspiring way to expand your art practice.

8 Week Watercolour Course (Term 1)
Join Nicole Black for an eight-week contemporary watercolour course at Sim + Co, exploring landscapes and botanical forms through a nature-inspired lens.
Across the term, you’ll experiment with colour, composition, and intuitive mark-making to develop your own expressive style.
Each week builds on practical techniques while giving you space to play, observe, and interpret the natural world in your own way.

Contemporary Watercolour workshop- Layered Leaves
Discover a contemporary approach to watercolour painting in this 3.5-hour workshop. Intro to Gouache Painting
Learn to paint with the beautiful Gouache medium in this 3 hour workshop with Nicole Black.
If you have ever been curious about painting with gouache, and would like to learn more, this class will introduce the medium’s characteristics. as well as techniques such as layering and mixing colours and colour theory. We will then apply these techniques to achieve small landscape paintings.
What to expect:

An introduction of techniques and information about materials,
A relaxed setting with a maximum of twelve students,

Join me for a relaxing session of watercolour painting, taking inspiration from local flora. Over the course of this workshop, we will investigate the nuances of the watercolour medium with a series of exercises and techniques, before exploring these ideas further by studying the botanicals. We will study Australian natives with a particular focus on shape, layering and blending effects.

(Term 1) 8 Week classes at Sim + Co
An entire glorious creative term focussing on faces! We know this can be exciting but also sometimes daunting… we’ve got you! With our step-by-step approach we will guide you through drawing, colour mixing watercolour paints and brush stroke techniques. There is always opportunity to take this project your own way and use other materials other than watercolour. We are a mixed media studio so anything goes!

Intro to Watercolour painting was fun and engaging.
